Synthetic Oil questions

i now use the synthetics in all my cars. my corvette came w/it from the factory, mobil 1, supposedly the syn oil is the only reason no oil cooler is necc on my vette as the synthetic takes much higher heat.

also run it in my '02 impala and got about 10% better gas mileage too.

Been on Amsoil now for a little over 4,000 miles. I also have synthetic fluid in the transmission (redline MT-90). I have a test kit from blackstone labs that Im going to send my motor oil to be analyzed so they can see how its doing and also give me an estimate of what change intervals I can safely do.

One problem that may arise with switching to a synthetic after running conventional for a long time in higher mileage vehicles is leaks around gaskets, esp. the rear main seal or oil pan gasket.

I had experience after switching to Mobil 1 (15W 50) at around 120K and getting some leakage at the rear main seal. Not too bad, but I eventually replaced the seal and no probs at 140K. I expect the inline-6 to make at least 250K ;)
