Szabohawk- D2 Spyderco Hawk!

My very good BF Hawk fiend buddy, just told me about this (soon to be released), Spyderco Szabohawk.

I actually just pre-ordered, the Zero Tolerance 0102 Tomahawk (from Blade HQ) a couple of week's ago. ZT's Tomahawk, is being made with Vanadium 4 steel on the head, & G-10 handles.

I would appreciate any feedback/opinions, between these 2 Tomahawks; mainly the difference between the Vanadium 4 & D2 Steel's, & the benefits/drawbacks, between these 2 choices is steel, by their respective maker's?

BTW- I just sent a PM, to BF Member, Ankersen, & would really love to hear what he thinks, regarding these 2 choices in Tomahawk, blade steel's. I apologize to the OP, & I hope that you do not mind me side stepping your thread & getting it a little off track. Truth be told, I like both of these Hawk's (maybe the ZT look's a little more), but I'll wait to make a decision, after educating myself a little more on these 2 different type of steel.

Thank you!

I don't really see a problem with either one really taking into the intended advertised uses of the products.

The steels chosen are fine.

I personally like the design of the Spyderco tomahawk more than the ZT. I'd rather have a hammer than a spike and I like the flat blade and super curved handle. Having said that, I'd probably rather have Vanadis 4E than D2 in a tomahawk, unless the price of the D2 tomahawk was significantly lower. Pros and cons, man, pros and cons. I really hope the Szabohawk comes in at around 150 bucks or less. I don't see it being really competitive at a higher price. That's all just personal conjecture. You never know. ZT could completely botch the heat treat of the V4E or Spyderco may want 500 bucks for the Szabohawk and either of those issues could collapse the entire project for the respective companies. Or Spyderco could list the Szabohawk at 100 bucks and it'd fly off the shelves and ZT could have a real winner with the V4E they're using causing it to be a marketing gold mine and vaulting it to production made blade of the century status. It's all up in the air right now because neither has made it to the market yet. Good luck with your decision

Leatherman, bodog, & Ankersen,

Thank you for your input. I edited my previous post. I came across this thread, after researching this product on Google. I had no idea that I had posted my question in the Spyderco Forum. The last thing I want, is to stir up any type of debate on their forum. I have since moved my question to the more appropriate, General Knife Discussion forum.
