Szabowie!

Browinie; I regret that we didn,t talk more at the riddle this year, but you have peaked my Intrest in your brown bowie. Is it possible to see a picture of it? Tork

Big tork:

I can get a few digital photos together and send them to your private email address this next weekend. Been thinking about doing a photo shoot of the collection individually as well as collectively anyway.

If you'll email me your net address at bladesrus@comcast.net, I'll try to get these out to you this weekend.

If anyone knows someone who can put it on a server for others to view, I'd be okay with that as well.

the possum:

Check my avatar. I'm known to many as a big fan of caffeine and in large copious quantities. Keep the related stories coming, I really enjoy reading your exploits with the big blades and would like nothing better than to be a part of those events testing my own knives real world performances as you do. There is nothing quite like first hand experiences to get one to a real world knowledge base.

Stay safe guys

Brownie

Gosh, Brownie. You're just trying to flatter me now, aren't ya? :D Truth be told, I'd love to get some real training with you or attend the Riddle or something. I took a bit of foil fencing & the basics of sabre in college, but of course only a very few techniques can translate to the Bowie. But, I realize even though you're not close by, you are also known as a "road warrior", correct? If your travels ever bring you southeast of St. Louis, drop me a line. I'd love to bring you out after some critters.

I'm also known as a bit of a coffee drinker. I usually finish a pot by lunch, and often another by evening. (Well, we all drink it around here; probably 5 or 6 pots a morning) There'd be a fresh pot waiting for ya! :)

And Bob, I'd love to learn more of various European Sword methods, but have not yet found a group nearby (it would have to be within 20-30 minute drive, or I'd never make it) to practice with. I think I'd be more interested in German Longsword.... Say, do you also post at Swordforums?

I've mostly gotten out of that end of things. Most large groups involve too much politics for me.

If you're interested in learning the medieval European combat arts I would suggest that you check around for a local chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). You can find out more and get some help with locating a group at http://www.sca.org/.

The SCA is a general medieval re-creation group, but combat is one of the key areas of interest. They wear real armor and use non-edged wooden weapons intended to simulate the weight and balance of the real things without their penetrating capabilities. Like any "safe" sparring some elements of realistic fighting are lost in the process, but you still end up with a pretty good simulation.
