I'm in, I had 2 Sod Busters and I gave both of them away, a Hen and Rooster I gave to my daughter's boy friend and a Case Sod Buster Jr. I gave to an old man I met at the flea market, he was asking about some knives I had up for sale and he kept looking through the knives I was selling which were all newer more modern 1 handers that were higher priced knives.
He kept digging through his pockets counting his change and lookin through the knives in the case again, all the while.i he kept eating chocolate and talkin' about when he was a kid and how the knives were more friendly back in the day. Then he'd ask me the price, thank me for my time and walk away.
He'd been back three times and each time we start taking about older knives and eventually he he'd check his pockets ask about another knife and walk away again.
Well at the end of the day as I was packing up my tables a younger woman came by and asked if I was the guy that was selling the knives earlier? When I told her I was she wanted to know if maybe I had any other knives for a little less money?
She had said that she had a table in the back and her father had been been up to visit her for the day but because she had committed to going to the flea market she had brought him along and she said he was bored but he told about her about how we had talked about all kinda things especially knives. She said that he had really enjoyed talking to me and she was hoping that she could get him a knife to have as a keepsake from his visit.
I couldn't sell her anything that had been on the table as nothing was in her price range but I told her I did have a gift for her father, it was a yellow SS Case Soddie Jr. I had just picked up at a local hardware store on close out for about $12 I had just broken the sharp edges on the sound and put a nice edge on the blade, (it have me something to do while I sat my table) so I dug into my pocket and put in her hand and told her to give it to get father as a gift from me and asked if she'd tell her father that I also enjoyed his conversion and company.
She thanked me and went back to clean up her table and I assumed to give her father the knife. I finished packing hooked up the trailer and as I was getting ready to start the truck I heard a tap on the drivers window, it was the old man, after I rolled down the window the old man reached out his hand and introduced himself, thanked me for the gift of a beautiful knife, (it wasn't really what I'd call beautiful, it was typical Case production folder, nothing special) as he shook my hand he said, "in my day when a friend gave another a knife it was customary to give them back a coin so as to not jeopardize the friendship" he than handed me a big gold coin

as I reached for the coin I realized it was a gold foil wrapped chocolate coin, he said it was the last one he had and he wanted me to have it.
I haven't been back to that flea market in a while but I'll always remember that old man.
As for what I'm doin' this summer, spending way too much time workin' on my daughter's car, (lucky for her she's got a built in garage and mechanic) and the other thing I'm doin' I really do all year but the warmer months I get out a little more and that is ride my motorcycle as much as possible with gas goin' up again it's much more economical/fun to ride the bike.
Here's a pic of what I try to spend my summers doin'back.
Sorry for the long story seein' that Soddie just reminded me and I thought I'd share while entering your generous giveaway.
Thank you.
