Offered for sale is a one-off, wire-wrapped take-down Kwaiken by T.K. Steingass. The pronounced hamon on this forged blade is lovely, and the wire wrap equal to Maringer's
work. T.K.'s own description serves best :

" I forged this San Mai billet at the New England School of Metalwork class taught by Ben Seward. The handle is wrapped with .021" stainless wire and all the fittings are 410 stainless - the spacers on each side of the handle are coined. The wooden sheath is wrapped with black vegetable tanned bridle leather and the stud is forged to a teardrop shape. Magnets are inlaid into the leather lined wooden sheath to hold the knife securely yet allow for one hand deployment. 10. 5" OAL, 5 7/8" blade. Since it's the first kwaiken I've made, I decided to incorporate takedown construction. "

Blade is 5 - 7/8", and the weight is 11.3 ounces. O.A. length is 10.5". The balance point is dead on the hilt. Mint and unused, retains Tim's original scalpel edge. Includes waistband sheath and weighty, machined takedown tool (also crafted by T.K.)

* $1850. *
