t-mag

Yes on the other forums they have tried with little benefit. The T mag is not for every one it is a friction folder that has the benefit of a magnet to keep it in the closed and open position better than friction alone and the coolest thing since sliced bread for those of us who like friction folders but want to carry them in a pocket safely. Truly it would be hard to accidentally close the blade with your finger in the way. Sure it isn't the best stabber but it isn't meant to be.

The T-Mag was a great concept and I wish it worked out better in reality. It was one of my most anticipated Spyderco offerings. Unfortunately, it is turning out to be a tremendous disappointment to many because it doesn't lock tight enough closed or open. Wish it weren't so, but it is. The combination of carbon fiber, S30V and wire clip is very nice. Unfortunately this dog just don't hunt.

Interestingly, it seems nobody has tried (or at least I don't recall reading where anyone has reported trying) the one mod that might make the T-Mag a bit more practical. Namely washers that, instead of smoothing the action and allowing the blade to swing like the proverbial garden gate, would serve as friction brakes and provide drag to "assist" the magnet.
