Hey 2Sharp...

I've handled a few TOPS blades,, and from what I have seen they are good quality blades..

I own a Wolf pup and it is very well done..
Good fit and finish on it...Cool little knife...

Got stopped by an off duty cop who thought it was a small snub nosed .38 in my front pocket..LOL

Speaking of the AC9.. I just ordered mine from Ron..

The dealer I would talk to when looking for a TOPS blade would be Roy over at

Hope this helps..

Used a 7" Steel Eagle for some time. The handle is very secure even when wet/soapy/oiled. However it is very abrasive, much more so than the Project by Reeve for example and I was never able to adapt to using it barehanded.

The sheath was not up to the Kydex work of McClung, Busse, Becker etc. . It was thin and readily broke under impacts when cold.

The edge is horribly obtuse as is the primary grind. It did not cut nor chop well - however was decently durable in regards to hard impacts. Even with a trimmed down edge the very thick profile impairs cutting.

The coating came off easily with limited use and the bare steel underneath it, 1095, rusts readily. It is also not very wear resistant and the edge wears down quickly. It sharpens quickly though, even on cheap AO hones.

1095 is also not the strongest steel, I broke the tip off twice, multiple large pieces out of the edge, and put a bend in the main blade body doing various prying work.

I am quite fond of them. I have a Hawk Recon and Street Scalpel, and am fairly impressed. My dad also has one, not sure of the model, but he swears by it. He has a couple more on his to get list.

I think they are a pretty good buy for a fixed blade, might not be the best, but I have yet to find a dealer that will sell under retail also, would be quite helpful.
