I've used this method before with Rit dye (a mixture of red and brown for a nice deep color) and it worked pretty nicely.

Thanks all, I've had fun with this one.

Camillus and Cate, I applied heat and wood stain repeatedly.

Jack, I saw another "RENOWN" in the Forum "Old Knives" thread (page 300, post 5998) but I was hoping you might have more info, thanks for considering it. BTW Jack what's a 'car-boot-sale'?

Here we call them flea markets, but why would I want to buy fleas?
I prefer garage sales and yard sales. You can never have too many yards and garages.
