I had some axes offered to me this weekend made from (supposedly) T3 .I didnt get to see them due to the torrential rains, but supposedly they are really big and heavy.I looked up T3 and it's a tungsten HSS. I'm not sure on where he got his info from but should i save them from the scrap heap if they are T3.From what i read its not a very good hot working steel and would be a horrible axe, unless i'm mistaken  which happens all the time ;)

Check them on a grinder - T3 with 18 % W will give you deep orange/red sparks. I can't imagine making axes from that steel !!!

I couldnt imagine it either! isnt hss usually for cutting tools? end mills and the like, thanks for the info.Hopefully he meant S7
