T5

I will either eagerly await some early impressions or may just go ahead and order a T5 because I'm just like an impatient child!

Ha! I resemble this remark! :)

I have been keeping a very keen eye on this T5 model by looking at some of your posts on this topic while I was in my "stealth" mode ;)

As I had alluded to on another subforum, although I had changed my mind about getting an M7 about a year or so ago, there were a few things about that model which I had liked. Then came this great looking T5 without the choil and the heft of the M7, plus my preference of its over all aesthetics and the way the blade is more pointed at the tip almost like being a spear point, even if not quite so.

I agree with you, that I think the T5 may account for what you wanted to see different from the M7. I know there was a question in your mind about the sleipner steel as well, so the T5 in Niolox might fit the bill. I don't have experience with Niolox but will be glad to try it out as I've seen a lot of good said about it. Live and (pay to) learn :D

There should be some folks with T5's in their hands shortly, but if someone doesn't post up I'll be glad to give some impressions. Mine is due in around the first of next week. Cheers bud.

Dave, I do actually prefer Niolox over Sleipner just based on what I have read on various sites despite my very rudimentary and layman knowledge of anything related to metallurgy! I briefly owned some Lionox steel knives made by LS for DPx, but I never held onto them for enough period of time to have tested them. Hopefully if I get a T5, I will be keeping it to use it and to use it heavily.

I don't know if you had a chance to watch any of the video posted earlier. Of course I couldn't understand the language, but seeing it in-hand looked encouraging. Based on the handle of the M7, which I like very well, I think the T5 will lend itself to the harder uses. It won't be a blade for pinch-gripping, etc. but hopefully can still accomplish some finer work with the swedged drop-point. I'm excited for this model

The Ex Missus is full on German and we are friendly enough for her to translate some Bavarian sour kraut lingo, but if she gets a whiff of all these sharp blades in my possession, she may get the wrong idea and call the entire San Marcos's constabulary as a backup :D

Guess what showed up in the mail today? A little Friday afternoon knife porn...

I forgot how big the T5 is in relationship to the M4! More to follow...

Close-ups of the T5, sorry for the crappy iPhone 6s pictures, it is going to be later this weekend before I get any playtime with this blade.... It is a very "stout" knife that feels great in my hands, it has"heft" and I like it! Excellent ergonomics for a big/long hand that I have...

I managed to score one this evening! Can't wait to get this one in hand!:thumbup::thumbup:

^^^ you seem to be a man who can take a page from this Book: "A solution in need of a problem" :)

There's also the blackwashed blade model for about $15 more.

I thought real seriously about getting the blackwashed version, but hadn't researched their coatings well enough for my own peace of mind. It does look good though.

Ordered my T5 with Blackwashed Niolox blade for $155 shipped!

It's my first LionSteel fixed blade although I have two other fixed blades made by LionSteel: Knife Research Legion Sleipner G-10 and Fox Pro-Hunter N690 Rosewood.

Edited to Add: I also have several fixed blades made by LionSteel for Bastinelli, DPx Gear and Blackwater.

Nice! These are a lot of knife for the money IMO. I'd like to know your thoughts on the blade finish after some use.

^^^ The more I look at that coated blade, the more it sings to me. I think I'll find the satin finish, too satinish! From everything I've read about the LionSteel blade coating, they do an excellent job and theirs holds.

She's a little bright alright. I need to go wear some of the sparkle off of her :D

Their black finish just looks really good on this one. I'm glad to hear their finishes hold up, although I'll probably kick myself for not grabbing this in black if that's the case.
