Looking for a cheap table bandsaw for metal
I was told a 9inch hf won't work for knife steel
Any suggestions?

Thanks guys

I think you are asking an age old but confusing question, if the 9 inch is a metal cutting, it will work as well as you can expect any HF item to work. If it is any size of wood cutting bandsaw, it will not cut metal. Wood saws are 10x too fast for metal. Check out a parking lot sale, you can probably get a metal cutting for less than $150.00

Look around at used machinery places. I got this 1970's vintage Enco for $350:

It's got a 24" throat, will turn any blade from 1/8" to 5/8", and has an infinitely variable speed control.

Buy a HF portaband. Then go buy Milwaukee or Lennox blades. They work great for blade steel. Also, I've used mine to cut through 5/16"x4" angle several times and it worked wonderfully!

Garrett, I got the portaband and mounted it vert. with a 12 in. pc. of angle iron and then added a 6 in.x 6 in. plate and use bimetal blades.....Works great....Good luck.................carl
