Wolf, that would be groovy, I don't much see the weapon effectiveness of a tanto over other knives, but maybe a matching wakizashi, for the closer quarters stuff hehe.

Tony, not long maybe about 3 days if I put all the hours together.
PBJ, I made it via stock removal mostly, though I minimized that a bit by forging in the tip and drawing out the tang. I made this katana after watching Wally Hayes' video, KATANA. Wally shows an up front well explained tutorial on making a tac katana, I just modified it a bit with what I had but you could do the same. The video covers all aspects, from grinding to heat treat and making the tsuba, to wrapping the handle I bet if you got the video and watched it and gave it the old college try you could make one no problem for under 200-300$ (the cost of a mid-end chinese made sword).

Heheq, I just shaped the tang in an hourglass shape, the wrap goes over that and bam it's shaped like an hourglass.
