The thread title is in reference to this companion thread which I had made earlier, praising one of the involved parties for his gracious actions and respectable behavior. TacBlade, though, seems to, at the very least, be having a bad day.
So, there was this sales thread.
In this thread, I tried to buy the Damascus Lanny Clip that TacBlade had posted the previous night. I was excited to see it was still there in the morning and hopped on it!
After sending that PM, I step away from the computer for a bit. I make breakfast, eat it, have a nice poop. You know, morning stuff. I come back to these two messages. Please note the time stamps:
A whole 45 minutes in between him telling me I had it and then telling me it was sold. Annoyed, and still not quite awake enough to be fully civil, I reply:
I know, classy, right? I also had apparently been away from the computer for longer than I had thought (it was a very good breakfast and a very good poop! I like to really enjoy my mornings.) I could have handled that with a bit more grace, to be sure. bacustomknives then sends me this PM:
Ah! That explains it, at least. I reply:
While I was typing that, I was sent this PM (note the timestamp):
Man, what a cool guy! I'd feel like a total jerk if I took it now. I replied:
And then Bill sends me this PM:
Being pretty sure I knew where that was going to go had we chatted on the phone, and also being socially awkward enough that the concept of an early morning phone conversation that involves reputations and right and wrong and whatnot just filled me with anxiety, I decided I would just skip right to what my ultimate response and stance was going to have been:
To which he replies:
Now that is crazy respectable. Not only is this guy offering to give up his place in line because of someone else's mistake, but he also wants to make sure that TacBlade doesn't look bad in the arrangement. However, the thread had been locked at this point and I could not edit or delete my posts. Not knowing that, however, I'll admit to being somewhat vindictive:
I just don't think it's cool, you know? I wasn't going to go make a feedback thread about it, but I wanted the fine folks on "the porch" (traditional subforum) to know what had gone down and allow them to come to their own conclusions.
Shortly after that, I get this:
I'm still pretty uncomfortable with the idea, so I send him this in response:
And that was it for a while! I made this thread praising bacustomknives for his incredible tactful, generous, and honorable actions in this exchange. I was intentionally vague about everything else because I was willing to just let this blow over and just wanted to let Bill get some recognition for being awesome.
Then, an hour and a half later:
Games? What games? Whatever. I reply:
And I'm a man of my word, hence this thread.
I could have handled it better, and so could he. I'm not going to pretend I come out of this smelling of roses, but, certainly, I feel as if I did the right thing. TacBlade, though, has certainly shown that he does not handle being in the wrong very well, to the point where he shifts the blame onto others and goes as far as to insult them with very personal statements ("you are a depressing person") and then make childish ultimatums.
Don't worry, TacBlade, I won't be dealing with you in the future either.
