After making a few clip point blades, I realized that this shape is probably the most useful for a camp knife and decided to make one from thinner stock (0.214") so it can be more easily carried for long periods -my "prybars" are made from 1/4" to 3/8" 5160. In my opinion, this one is "just right" for all around use -it's light, a cutter, packs a whole bunch of blade in a compact package and tough. :)

It also has a coke bottle shaped handle for a secure, traditional grip that is very ergonomic ... but the top is flared to stop your hand slipping forward if used in a tactical application. The material is canvas micarta -which is grippy when wet.

The blade has been enamel coated (for rust resistance) and is 5160 -heat treated to HRC 60 which has been flat ground with a convex edge. It holds an edge very well and is very sharp.

Included is a heavy duty leather sheath.

Here it is:

Steel: 5160 (heat treated to HRC 60), flat ground with a convex edge

Blade Length: 5-1/2"

Blade Width: 1-1/2"

Overall Length: 10-1/4"

Stock Thickness: 0.214"

Handle: Green Canvas Micarta with Brass Rivets

Price: $185 (includes shipping in conus)

First "I'll take it" is the owner :)

Thank you for looking

Great job again! I already have a Sharpened Prybar and I love it. Who ever gets this one will be lucky!

Thanks for all the positive feedback!

Damn that's nice.

Great job.

would prefer black Kydex though.

Thanks for the input TKAZ.

I used to work with kydex, but after having a couple of sheaths remold themselves on a hot day ... I try to stick to leather now. Plus, a vertical sheath in kydex using a tek-lok rides high and feels awkward.

So for securing the scales; are you useing thong tubing? and then flaring it with a press? I've seen others do this and I was just wondering how its done.

Nice knife...

Hello Flatgrinder. I am an admirer of your work. Do you have a website or do you just list knives as they are individually made? I am looking for a camping utility and I must say you are putting out some compelling pieces. Do you work only with micarta? It seems as though you have figured out the best possible materials and stay within your niche. Are you and Lin Marcus one and the same? cal

Marcus makes amazingly rugged well made sheaths. A couple of knifemakers who make really high priced knives and sheaths were very impressed with the sheath for my Prybar when I showed it to them.

Thanks for all the positive feedback!

Hey, thanks for looking everyone!

Yes, I am Marcus ... :)

M, here's a tutorial I did a while back (when I was making knives in an apartment!):

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=471416

Now I use a modified arbor press with two dies turned from hardened O1 tool steel (heat treated by David Wesner -who also makes a heck of a knife!) and a hammer. ;)

BTT ... with a price drop -as I like my knives to be used.

If no one purchases this by the weekend, it's off to a buddy of mine in Ghana. :)

Money is tight or I'd be all over this. Someday I hope to afford another from you. I am heading out for the annual Memorial weekend canoe trip soon and plan on using my prybar a lot!
