Tactical flashlight

Try a Nitecore Extreme HA R3. 200 lumens on one CR123.

So its come down to the Olight M20 and the surefire E2D LED Defender, the M20 is only $20 cheaper up here at $129 as compared to the surefire at $149. with only a $20 difference it comes down to whickh one of the 2 is a better tactical light I am leaning towards the surefire mainly because I have bought from this online dealer before and was very satisfied with the service and I think that the surefire may have a bit of an edge in performence making it worth the extra money. Any final thoughts before I commit to it?

Wow, EBay has stores selling the M20 for as low as 66 shipped!
I don't blame you for getting the Surefire at those prices.

In fact I just checked and there's good stores selling the M20 on EBay, for 66.00 and 9.95 shipping to Canada. In case you want to get a deal on the M20, just search OLIGHT M20 on EBay and you'll find them.

I bought an OLIGHT M20 Warrior and I'm very happy with it. You can buy one for less than 70 dollars shipped and it's great reviews lead me to it. Has a max output of 250 lumen's. Works great and is easy and positive to adjust. I don't think you can beat them for the money.

Yep this is what I would buy. I was in your exact same predicament and had the same budget range. I purchased my M20 for ~$100 about 10 months ago though.

It has a MUCH longer runtime than the E2DL and I also wanted strobe. Those were the last two deciding factors for me. I will probably end up getting an E2DL anyways, because they're so cool. :D

I know I'm a dealer and can't be trusted, but be careful when buying from guys selling below MAP (minimum advertised price, which is $94.95 for the M20). If you ever have a problem with the light and need warranty service, a light bought from an unauthorized dealer will likely not be serviced. Just a heads up...

All good recommendations so far, Josh, thanks for describing the beam patterns I have been wondering about the LX2 beam for a while.

A malkoff MD2 with M60W (warm tint LED) and low output ring would probably be ideal or a SF 6PD with the malkoff goodies.

Careful buying surefires though, their very addictive.

+1 on the malkoff MD2. For the size you can't beat it. Gene and Cathy offer the ultimate in service as well.

I own the M20 and the Surefire E2dL
I love them both but I carry the M20 more because I like the fact that I can use a single 18650 battery and it has a better run time then the Surefire with the 18650, which the 18650 is not an option with the Surefire. The Surefire has a good mix of spill and throw as does the M20. But the build and fit finish goes to Surefire. The M20 has taken a great deal of hard use and has never failed me. The E2DL has a sharp strike bezel and is not removable. The M20 has a removable strike bezel and is not sharp at all. The M20 has a clip that allows you carry bezel down which I like, the E2DL has a clip for bezel up.

I found this one, Fenix PD30 R2, and really like it. Other plusses for me are , Canadian company, half the price of the surefire, and almost as good looking. Not that I am against othe countries its just if I find a Canadian companny that is producing a simualar quality product and if they are close in price I will always buy Canadian. If I lived in another country I would support that countries companies

Fenix lights are made in China.

Fenix Lights are made in China but I believe the company you are refering to is fenixtactical.com. fenixtactical.com is a Canadian distributor for Fenix lights, Maxpedition gear and other kit. I've dealt with this company a number of times and I have had excellent service every time. I currently own and use 3 Fenix lights.

LD10- pocket EDC or on my body armour.
TK11R2- Camping, hiking and on my duty belt
my newest addition is the TK30, its 630 lumens, light weight and that one will be in my duty bag.

My GF's dad is a farmer and her carries the TK11R2. He pretty much beats the piss out of it on a regular basis and it had stood up to everything up to the point where he accidently tossed it while loading the wood furnace. The warranty is good but not good enough to cover incineration. He now carries a TK12R2.

I know a few people who have the regular PD30 and it is a great light as well. Alot of light in a small package. If you get that I recommend you get the rechargeable battery kit and the difuser tip as well. The difuser tip is great especially for camping or during power outages. It spreads the light out like a lantern.

PM me if you have any other questions. Take care.

I like the one you chose

Fenix PD30 R2

Fenix lights seem to be a good value and are well rated on candlepower forums as far as I have read.

Are you committed the odd batteries? instead of the commonly available AA or AAA
"Uses two 3V CR123A batteries (Lithium)"

I haven't' been able to find them cheaply here in Canada.
The Surefire USA website lists selling them by the carton at fairly decent per battery prices, but will not sell directly and the Canadian distributors prices are about $5 per battery...

For me that would always be in the back of my mind and kinda take the joy out of using it.

Surefire 6P LED works for me. 80 lumen, relatively inexpensive and is a workhorse.

I dare you to stare into it at night and tell me you can still see!!

If the LED burns out you have a striking tool!
