Tactical Folder Recommendations?

I currently EDC a CRKT M16-13Z which I am happy with, but would like something with a bigger blade, maybe a 3.5 or a 4". I currently am interested in the Benchmade Griptillian, Cold Steel Recon 1 and the Spyderco Manix 2... The Recon looks a little heavier than I would like. Does anyone have any recommendations besides those for under $100?

Found a Griptillian Tanto for $65 shipped, decent price? http://www.opticsale.com/benchmade-griptilian-tanto-pardue-plain-edge-553-24273-prd1.html?gdftrk=gdfV2656_a_7c772_a_7c3291_a_7c059_d_553

Thanks!

The Spyderco Stretch 2 is tremendously versatile. It feels just right. I notice that many others think the same!
The VG10 version with FRN handles is easily within your budget.

I just picked up BM 710 in D2 on the forums for just 10 over 100 and it would fit your criteria. Its got good heft but not to heavy, unlike the griptillian which is a little light in the handle dept

Maybe a ZT 350 or a Spyderco Military. Search around the forums and you will find one for around 100 dollars.

+1:thumbup:

Also check out Emerson...if you keep your eyes open they can be found for under $100 on the exchange...

I really love the ZT 350, but the blade is a little smaller than I would like. I am now aiming for at least 3.5" preferably 4". I like the ZT 200, but it seems a bit heavy and bulky. Any more recommendations for a lighter 4"?

Thanks!

Here is my thought on a tac folder. The first thing you have to realize is that if it is used in a s.d. situation you will have it confiscated and you may or may not get it back. So I would look for cheap, as inexpensive. Tons of those around in CRKT, and Spyderco, Byrd, and the NAVY line off the bay. Blade length up to you. Other than that looking is half the fun of deciding which way to to go on it. Oh yea Cold Steel too. good luck and keepem sharp

Just ordered a Spyderco Tenacious off Amazon for $31.83! Didn't realize they were that cheap... I am still looking for something with a bit bigger blade though. Maybe I should just go all out for the Rajah! Haha, I think that might be a bit big for a EDC.

The knife I would recommend in that price range is a Lone Wolf Longhorn.

cpm-S30v blade, g-10 or wood scales. not sure on the exact blade length but I would say just under 4".

You can get this knife for around 100 bucks.

kyle.

Spyderco Endura FFG. Make a tiptie mod and you got yourself a big, light and super fast blade!

Spyderco is working on a larger blade version of the Tenacious, the Resilience. I don't remember when the expected release date is but it's this year.

It should be soon since it's listed in the mid-2010 catalog supplement. It really looks like a "Military for the common man".

check out the spyderco endura. If you want a more solid feeling knife than the frn handles, look for the g10 version. You can find them for around 100 dollars.

If it is a 'tactical' folder you want, in the end there can be only one - an Emerson. Edit - Not under a hundred, but worth the delayed gratification.

I will put my vote in for the manix2. I have the one in carpenter steel. You can pick up the 154 version for less than 80 bucks shipped if you look around. It is made in Golden colorado and has a ball bearing lock, great work knife. Might be too big for some folks is the only drawback I see.

A couple of amazing values are the Kershaw Spec Bump 1596SW (S30V Stone Washed 3 5/8th inch blade) and the Kershaw Lahar 1750 (VG-10 3 1/2 inch blade). Both have G-10 scales and great fit and finish. Both very solid knives and you should be able to find either for under $65.

I haven't had a Spyderco in quite some time... If I like the Tenacious I just ordered, I might consider getting a Spyderco Police 3 G-10, mainly because of that 4 3/8" blade! I am still very interested in the ZT's, really love the flippers.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions so far!
