In the new Tactical Knives magazine, Steven Dick wrote an article about the Horseman, CQC8, and the Super CQC8. He gave these knives a glowing recommendation. He stated it was one of the few knives he has tested capable of slashing the 1" hanging manila rope in one pass. Additionally, the CQC8 is an excellent knife in the penetration genre. Great article.

There goes another $200. I'll let you know when I get one.

The CQC-8 is the best all round use knife Emerson have on the books, it's one of those knives that just got everything right.
I don't know why the Commander seems to be the "famous" EKI and not the 8, but IMO it should be the 8, a great knife indeed.

I think the Commander has that exotic look that people like. IMO the cqc8 may look more boring, but it's more practical and easier to sharpen.

Sweet...I got my first Emerson on the way, and it happens to be a 8!!!

Glowing praise indeed, Haze. How does the 8 compare to the 11, in your opinion... I've been debating between the two for quite a while, and have
been leaning towards the 11.

agreed.

the 11 has a recurved blade as well, as is a bit wider.

I miss my CQC-8, such a great knife..i sold it a while back and been wanting another emerson:D

I carry my stonewashed Horseman often. I tend to rotate it with my stonewashed mini CQC-15. I would have to agree that the CQC-8 and it's different sizes are really the perfect everyday Emersons.

I love my 8 :) Going to be even bettter when I get the blade back from Tom Krein :D

Would love to see that review.

my Emerson 8 is on its way!

unfortunatly, Im a lefty.. gonna have to get the clip swaped over.
any body know who does frame lock conversions for lefties?

Heresy, the Commander is so awesome that a deployment sheath was made for it :D

Although I do miss my CQC-8, the Commander is my do it all knife
