Tactical Knives CQC8 Review

i use a 2005 sf cqc 8 daily more than a year ago. This is great knife for all round utility and self defense. i would only change it to a 2010 8 with Sw finish and thick lock:P

I traded mine off to upgrade to a new spec model but now I find I'm hankering for the 13 even more, even though I still have one. Can't get enough of the bowie profile.

Just picked up a copy of that issue this past weekend and now I'm considering my first Emerson, either a Horseman or A-100. Problem is I can't seem to find any in stock?

I think the Commander has that exotic look that people like. IMO the cqc8 may look more boring, but it's more practical and easier to sharpen.

I would not call the CQC8 blade shape boring at all, very interesting and unique blade shape.

I like the cqc-8 so much i'll be getting a custom cqc-8 in a couple of weeks. I'm pretty excited being it will be my first custom emerson. I think the eight's blade is pretty cool imho.

I had the Horseman and the more I messed with the more I didn't like it. To me it just was not comfortable in the hands and I really didn't care for the blade design. I personally like the CQC-10 the best so far as it is the knife I carry the most and the blade design makes it a great folding outdoor knife.

anywhere where I can find this article? Considering the magazine is no longer available.

The CQC-8 is the best all round use knife Emerson have on the books, it's one of those knives that just got everything right.
I don't know why the Commander seems to be the "famous" EKI and not the 8, but IMO it should be the 8, a great knife indeed.

Agreed. IMO, the CQC8 is STILL easily Ernie's best design. I have two regular CQC-8's and one Horseman. I think it's arguably one of the best production defensive folder designs on the market.

Fit, finish, and lockup vary, and are typical Emerson production, which can be good... but isn't top shelf.

For a utility folder, look elsewhere if you are a right hander. The asymmetrical grind isn't for utility purposes. But it's easy to get very sharp.

154CM is fine for defensive purposes. Keep it sharp. 'nuff said.
