Tactical pen

The "best" one is the one you can have with you when you need it. My preference is the Zebra F701.

I'm a big fan of the Rovyvon commander c10 pen. Titanium bolt action that takes the standard space-pen/schmidt/parker jotter type refills. I've had one for about a year now. Solid. It might be heavy for extended writing, but I use mine fifty times a day for scratching down numbers, initialing stuff, etc. I used a WE knives TP-02A titanium bolt action before this one, nothing wrong with that one either. It's currently my desk pen. (I just wanted a new pen...in fact I want a third one right now.)

I've been considering the Gerber Imprproptu, the WE Baculus, as well as a few others.

At one time I had both of the titanium versions sold by Hinderer, the Investigator and the Extreme duty. Having a screw off lid finally got too annoying and I sold them both.

If I wanted to write alot at one time I woudl grow tired of a tactical pen, but for writing very little, very often, it's perfect. Plus as someone already mentioned, the bolt action is fun to play with.

Olight has a very cool pen. The olight pen pro..has light..bolt action and could be pokey if need be. I plan to get one soon

I saw one years ago which had a carbide ball on the top for breaking glass. Not the sharp point on a lot of glass breakers. Don't recall who made it though. Wish I could remember.

There's a bunch. I have a Civivi Coronet and an extremely similar one by Tisur (different lengths, identical mechanisms, definitely the same manufacturer). I've seen ones (also Chinese) that give you the option between pointy glass breakers, ball ones, or "DNA sampler" edged tops.

In a package deal during one of their sales, I got one of the Olight bolt action tactical pens with the light in it. Well made pen, good looking, fun to fiddle with and the led light is actually quite bright for its obvious limitations and size. The retention clip is very stiff but the pen has lots of cool factor and it writes well to boot. The machining and (anodizing I suppose) presentation is quite nice. They are not cheap but what is today? I also have one of those chrome fat Cross pens pictured above. Not tactical and no light but it’s a nice pen that is big enough to get a nice grip on and sturdy enough to do some damage with if it came to it. My guess is that the Olight would fit the bill nicely if you are willing to pony up the cash for one. If one were so inclined, they have sales pretty regularly w heavy discounts and bundles. Get on their email list and catch em on sale.

They are similar to the one I was referencing, but less tactical looking. More like a fancy pen with black barrel and silver point, clip, middle band, and top. The top had the small ball embedded in it. Always wondered what prevented the ball from getting knocked out?

I've also got this one; I can't remember if it had a brand or not - many of these pens and other doohickies from China don't have brands or the same item is offered with different brands. It's a clicky pen but the mechanism is manipulated by the clip rather than the typical plunger. Titanium, regular pen diameter (.3875" or 9mm or thereabouts), uses standard Parker/Schmidt 9000 refills.glsss breaker is ceramic ball rather than a sharp point. I think I paid about $50 or so direct from China.FB_IMG_1641705571551.jpg

I have the County Comm Embassy pens in stainless and titanium. I like them quite a bit although the stainless is pretty heavy. I carry the ti version
every day.

The original version with the O-ring was the best one. Lost mine and bought a newer version, but those without the O-ring just unscrew themselves in your pocket. I debated trying to file or grind a space for a rubber ring in my current one. The caps also mushroom at the base over time due to the thinness of the wall at the bottom, both aluminum and steel do that.

My versions are both second; both are without the o-ring. I have had issues with the cap unscrewing, but only on the ss version. It has not happened on my ti version. I have not seen any "mushrooming".
