Tactical tomahawk destructive testing video

Dang, James! He put that hawk through a serious workout and then some! That's quite impressive!

I haven't done anything close to that with my War Chief, but I'm very pleased with it! It's one of the best tools I own.

Time to resurrect this thread-I'll try to get some kevlar armor panels to punch through today, it'll be no match but will stir up 300six

what is the rockwell on the edge? i have seen the rmj's with the same 4140 steel not take that kind of damage after that abuse

Highlander 20026 - I don't have a Rockwell tester, so I can't give you a number. For an edge designed for cutting hardwood well and a spike designed for easily penetrating flesh in a combat role, I have no issue with the amount of damage received in the tests either he or I conducted. The goal was not indestructability, it was to function well in its intended usage while still being able to perform when pushed beyond that and sustain minimal damage. I did not want catastrophic failure when subjected to abuse. Given what it was subjected to, I'd say I reached that.

Customers may want something else, in which case I heartily encourage them to look at the other choices in the growing tomahawk market. *Nothing* on the market is indestructible.

WJC01 - Looking forward to the vest tests. :)

Edited slightly to cut-and-paste rearrange a sentence for clarity. Nothing added or deleted. :)

Thus, that test was far beyond what 95% of users will use these for, my 15" wrecker while not used much has been flawless. Chops wood for fires very well, makes feather sticks and bysts auto glass's with ease, also the spike punches sheet metal like a hot knife through butter. No concrete use for me though. Jim makes a quality hawk at a fair price. I feel that I chose well.
