My friend Ian came down to Windsor on Friday, and this made a great time to head out to the woods. :)

It had been a long time since he made it out there--last February, in fact--so I figured something extra was warranted.
You see, he has a son, with another one on the way. He has stepped-up to being a dad really well, putting his family first, which means he doesn't have cash for fancy new knives.

So I gave him this:

The Buck/TOPS CSAR-T, with the first lanyard/fob/whatever that I've ever made.

Out to the woods:

Well, it turned out he had a gift for me too...a Leatherman Surge!

I thought about getting one before, but never did, and he had this one and never bothered using it.
So, it all worked out well.

Found an old animal hole of some sort on the hill leading to the creek:

He brought his Junglas out there...note the "WHAM-O" logo on the side. :D

The ZT axe works for splitting wood:

And so does the Junglas:

Getting more fire going...

...to heat up the sausages his wife had cooked and sent with him:

It was also the 31st Day of Medford; here it is with a lightweight Benchmade he brought along:

He brought along a .22 caliber air pistol to shoot Hitler with:

But this time, Hitler shot back at us!
The stump the target was on was hard enough that the pellets came right back at us.
When I shot Hitler in the eye here,

the pellet came right back and passed through the hair on the left side of my face.

Well, Hitler ain't getting off that easy, hell no!!!

I eviscerated him with the back spike of the ZT 0102:

And Ian stabbed him in the face:

Back to the fire:

The Junglas prevails!

Used my old stainless steel bottle to heat up soup.
Poured his back into the can it came in, then I ate mine right out of the bottle:

He also has a smaller fixed blade, the Eskabar, which has been his EDC carry for some time now:

Another Junglas shot, with fire in the background:

And a selfie, because hey, why not? ;)

As he wanted to get back not too late into the night, I used the ZT axe to chop a burning log in half. The one half was on fire, but not the back part; this way, we could easily put the fire out much sooner:

It all went quite well.

Here is an excerpt from the e-mail I got from him today when he sent the pics from his phone:

"When it comes down to it, this weekend was the first time I really used the Junglas in the bush other then busting stuff up,
It really impressed the hell out of me especially when I battoned through a 2.5 ft log. Also chopping directly into a tall stump the blade
was so smooth on impact with no vibration just a thump, and it that penetrated 2 inches.

Had a great time.

(If your making a post on Bladeforums, throw that in)"

So, good friends, gifts of blades, fun in the woods, eating food and shooting Hitler; that's what it's all about. :)

Looks like a great time! I love my Surge, hoping you get some good use out of that one. I was thinking just the other night that I've used every single tool on the Surge...except the knives!

I think I will get some use out of it.
I'll chuck it in the bag along with the Swisschamp; see which one gets more use.

Something tells me that I too will end up not using the knife blade on it though. :D

Man what a great day! Looks like y'all had a good time. Excellent pics, thanks for sharing

I was sad to see no snausages :(

There were some in the aluminum pan covered with foil. :)
It wasn't quite the same without the ones fully cooked out there, but it did make it easier time-wise.

Next time out shall see the return of meat cooked by fire!

Don't you know you shouldn't baton with a knife? You had an axe! That Junglas things is too big and heavy to do much of anything.......

I know!
According to the internet, I should have chopped myself in the leg with the axe, Ian should be blind from the Junglas throwing steel splinters into his eyes when it broke from battonning (not to mention both of us having hernias from lugging around such heavy things), and then we should both have died when we had to rely on our folders to survive in the woods. ;)

You took a folder into the woods and lived? Lucky bastard!

It's fun to get out there, and it's fun to share the fun. :)
One of my classmates in a previous year said that he had never really thought about just heading out into the woods till I shared a few pictures with him.
Going off the trail had never occurred to him before...last I knew, he was planning to get out there and take a look around.

Maybe a ZT belt in the future???

A winning business idea! :D

Had a great time getting out in the bush it feelt like forever. I was a chief scout as a boy so learned to bring cooked food from homein winter and heat it in foil in on coals instead of all the work. Felt bad for just bringing sausage and soup. I had a nice rice dish with peppers in the fridge i sould have brought too. As for the blade here is a shot of the Junglas biting into a long stump. What a blade.

Oh nice face getting my new knife!

I get a good laugh everytime i read one of your posts and you stab/shoot hitler in the face :D

Thanks for sharing your adventures!
