Tacticool Pipe & Tobacco Pouch

Because dehydration is great when you're lost in the woods. Awesome!
Of course they'd all recommend it, because practically every adult male was addicted to nicotine.
As a former smoker, I'll say that if you are a nicotine addict, then the benefit of calming down will likely outweigh the bad effects of the amount of dehydration a bit of tobacco will give.

Back when I was over in the 117 degree heat of Iraq, for my Uncle Sam sponsored year of fun in the sun, I can say without a doubt the calming effect of a good cigar after having your vehicle blown to pieces far outweighed any negative dehydration effects.

I was not a regular tobacco user prior to going over or after, but illegal cuban cigars and Copenhagen were critical to my survival in that wilderness.

I have never been in a "survival" situation in the woods, where you would likely be very shaky, confused, full of adrenaline, etc. However, I see the benefit of sitting down for 20 minutes and puffing on a pipe and regaining your senses as I have experienced a very similar physical/mental reaction on many occasions when I was deployed. It worked for me then and I am sure it would work for me and others if I was ever in a survival situation again.

I am not sure if it is a mental, physical, or combination of the two, but the act smoking on a cigar, pipe, whatever seemed much more relaxing than just sitting down and taking a break.

im no addict. i just smoke every once in a blue moon. had this pouch sitting around and then finally figured out a use for it. Works good imo.

I'm no outdoorsman but am a pipesmoker. I like your choice in a pipe pouch and as some others have mentioned, recognize the benefits of a smoke to clear away the minds' haze. So interesting that the op's post should be so controversial and create such strife.

I wonder how anyone could be addicted to nicotine by smoking pipes or cigars. Compared to inhaling cigarettes or actually sucking on a pocket of chewing tobacco where you are really getting a hit of nicotine, it would seem that the nicotine intake from pipes and cigars that are not inhaled, would be minimal. Further, it would be so minimal that it would not even be on the radar screen regarding dehydration.

I smoked for years. I got tired of the money wasted, being winded, the taste on my tongue and the stench of it all over. I didn't smoke in the apartment or vehicles after I quit the first time and realized how bad it smelled, I smoked outside. But I'm not a crusader, either. If people want to do it, that's fine. I'm not a member of the Schutzstaffel about it. :D

It absorbs throught the mouth just fine.
That's how Nicorette works as well; absorption through the mouth lining.
Doesn't give you the same "rush" as a cigarette (been there, done that), but it sure gets the job done.
Give a cigarette addict with a nic-fit a cigar and make sure they only mouth the smoke, and their fit will go away.:)

Uh, not when I was addicted to cigarettes.

Dude, you're being ludicrous on this issue. When I was smoking, there was no puff on a cigar that was going to sate my desire for a cigarette.

Maybe it worked for you, maybe you were not really addicted to cigarettes either!

Chewing tobacco? You betcha! Pipe and cigar? No way it's the same as having a plug or pocket of chew or actually INHALING a cigarette, I'm sorry. That's just ridiculous.

:foot:
Seriously? We're having an argument of "I was more addicted to to nicotine than you were, neener neener neener!"?
Fine Don, you win; you were the biggest tobacco addict in the history of man. No one else can match the level of chemical slavery you attained. You are the true champion of sucking smoke; there is no doubt in anyone's mind. You win.

I find that recovering addicts often make the mistake of lumping everyone who participates in their previous vice as an "addict".

A moderate cigar/pipe smoker is hardly a nicotine addict.

Think of it as a time out, to help not make a rash decision and to help lower stress.

Hey, if anything, tobacco makes great tinder!

KIDS, KIDS, KIDS!!!!! RELAX!!!!! :)

We all have our different oppinion on this subject, but is it fair to the OP to clutter up his thread with it?
If you're going to have this discussion, why not take it over to Wine&cheese?

To the OP: Nice baccy-pouch! :)
