Is anyone familiar with the Taft Pierce Model 200 surface grinders? Have a chance to buy a 6x14 that is set up with DRO. 2hp unit.

Not a magnetic chuck. Has fine adjustment on both axis.

With non magnetic steels other means have to be utilized to hold the piece anyway don't they?

I am thinking a fly cutter in a small mill may be an okay way to go?

Double stick tape could be an option if chosen carefully and prepared properly. I think deep down we all want a surface grinder and given the right price, I say get it. I wonder what a used mag chuck costs. I've watched numerous vids of mag Chuck grinding and there seems to be a ton of meat on them so they should work for years to come.

A magnetic chuck would be the bees knees for sure. Those magna vise devices for holding non magnetic material can be had thin enough to not interfere with most knife steels.
