Taggedout...thoughts?

No doubt, just nice to see that they did move to that steel on this run, eventually if it is a hit, they may bring out something different and also I do hope that secondary scales will be available once this has some time on it. Of course, that just makes the entire package value go way up, but, it is a vicious hobby that most of us have ;) at least for me...

im interested to see how thin it actually be ground behind the edge.
I have heard SelectEdge of both 17 and 14 degrees per side reported in the wild, factory says 17 degrees, for the Taggedout, at 0.083" measured bladestock. The BTE will be smaller then my Bugout, closer to the Mini Bugout.

Received mine yesterday. I paid $152 from a online/brick-n-mortar store near me (GPK). The handle is definitely more solid feeling compared to the stock Bugout, having three stand-offs helps in this regard. I imagine that aftermarket scales will soon be available, like the Bugout, this is going to be another big hit for Benchmade.

True to the Bugout heritage, this blade stock is really thin and the BTE measurements are comparable to my favorite slicy knife, the Spyderco Chap series. I love the clip point but it gets really thin at the tip similar to the Chap but this blade is almost 3/4” longer, we’ll see how it holds up during the next week.

2.1 ounces for a 3.5” blade, a sure winner for off-grid duties…

I like orange grivory. I am interested in SelectEdge. I am not fond of clip points. I have never met a slot that I liked. I don't have any blades in CPM-154 so I don't really know about that. If it had S30V and thumb studs I would consider it.

i’m liking most of what i’ve seen about this one other than the color, which a little ritt dye should be able to fix right up. was wondering about the slot opener, i haven’t ever handled a knife with one. i have a couple extra sets of bm thumbstuds would it be possible to put a set of studs through the slot & have them cinch down tight? if so i would think you’d be able to customize where along the slot you would prefer to have the studs reside.

That's a good price, of course I wasn't as fortunate to locate a spot like that, looking forward to checking it out, Tuesday seems so far off ;)

To begin with, you may not be the intended audience for this knife if it is thumbstuds your clamoring for. In all likelihood, the Hunt series moving forward may not be what your looking for.

BM has indicated that the biggest complaint from hunters, hikers and campers that actually use their knives in the wilderness, are the thumbstuds. Internal research indicated that the slot design of the Taggedout worked very well with gloved fingers. I would bet that we don’t see another Hunt series folding knife with thumbstuds otherwise it would just be another Blue boxed knife like the Bugout.

The reports of the thin blade stock and grind pushed me over the edge. I really like cpm154 so my only issue is the orange scales. Luckily someone will release some scales in the near future if I hate them.

It's not that I like thumbstuds. I prefer Spydie holes. I have a few knives with slots, and those slots just don't work for me. On the rare occasions when I wear gloves, I prefer assisted openers. But I'm not into hunting and camping, so folks who like those activities may well have different preferences.

i don’t necessarily have to have thumbstuds, I'm just not sure how well a slotted thumb hole will work for me. i do like hokes in some of my blades, my favorite style being the oval hole as may ge found on the 808. was just wondering about another option if the slot doesn’t work out for me

Choice of CPM154 might be a good one for the thin edge as it is a powdered metal composition and I’ve always thought it was confusing to use the same number as 154CM

I splurged and ordered one and it should arrive on Tuesday so I’ll see what it’s like first hand

Some information about the steel seen here

Nailed it Gary.

Thanks and it JUST arrived and all I can say is WOW, well I guess I can add, Super impressed, I had to keep looking down to make sure the knife was still in my hand, so light and nimble. An incredible slicer, while I still have them, two thumbs up ! ;)

I like the direction it's moving, but it's still too small for me.

Thin blade stock: check.
Clip point: check.

I'd like to see the same thickness, but with a 4-4.25 in. blade length. A large diameter hollow grind as well would make it a must have for this pachyderm.

If I wasn't putting money towards other things I would have snagged one immediately. Good size, great weight, love the blade shape and I like that steel quite a bit. There's definitely a Butterfly tax it looks like, so I don't blame those that are staying away.
