Tai Goo Blade Booty

After a little prodding from a mutual friend and knifemaker Tai made his first trip to the Blade Show. He stayed at my house and we had a blast even though this was the first time we had met.

I had to adopt this piece he has named the Rainbow Bowie. Purple Heart handle with sterling fittings and 1084 blade.

That bowie is just OUTSTANDING! I really enjoyed watching it come together through Tai's series of photos and descriptions. Glad it has found an appreciative home.

I got the honor of meeting Tai and holding this awesome knife. Believe me, the pleasure was all mine.

Putting that knife down was one of the hardest things to do.

Tai had to leave early Sunday morning (way early :footinmou ) so he asked me to send it back to him. For some reason I just could not pack this fine puppy up and send it back this A.M.

There were 3 or 4 knives at the show. . .where lust kept draggin' me to specific tables. . . .again. . . .and again. . . .and again.

And that blade was one of them.

ST. No ulterior motives at all (at least none mentioned to me) . A very close friend (and maker) called me and asked if Tai could stay here. When it comes to Blade that is no big deal to me. Tia honestly had a good time touching base with some of his old friends as well as making some new ones.

I hope to be able to come out and meet a lot of you folks in November right after Thanksgiving.

Talk about scoring well! Having seen this one being constructed, I've remarked about the wickedness of that blade juxtaposed by the elegance of the handle and fittings. It just keeps me coming back for another look.

The hamon is incredible as is the blade's finish. Owning a similar piece, I would know...

Tai has a vision like no other maker out there. His knives are all outstanding and thoroughly original. That bowie is outstanding. Congratulations Gus, you got yourself one fantastic knife from a maker whose imagination and artistry are the the match of anyone that has ever made knives. That knife is a beauty.
I have to admit, I only saw the knife from across the table at dinner Thursday night. Tai got it wrapped up in that towel too quick and put away.
