Taichung suggestions!!!

Yojimbo 2 is Golden, not Taichung.

I'm gonna throw Domino/Dice out there as an option... although slightly above your price point.

Maybe a Nilakka if you want unique (smoothest Taichung I own), or Chokwe if you want a real deal slicer.

Yeah not sure why I thought it was a Taichung. I was looking at that and the Nilakka at the same time, so probably got them switched in my head. :o

Another vote for the sage 2. It's like a small sebenza at a third of the price!

ETA: edited to correct sage version

Actually, the Sage 2 is like a Small Sebenza . . . not the Sage 1. But yeah, a Sage is the way to go! :)

My bad! Thank you for the correction 😏

You would think I would know since I own the 1 and 2!😜

I'm torn between getting the Sage 1 and Sage 3.

I like the look of the carbon fiber on the Sage 1, and I like the flow through design. On the other hand, I'm a lefty, so the Sage 3 has the appeal of being fully ambidextrous.

How is blade retention on the Sage 3? I've read about some people saying it easily shakes out. Perhaps that was an issue that's been fixed in newer ones?

Sage 1 or Chaparral 1 are great choices for about $100. Perrin PPT Black Sprint should be out fairly soon and I think it will be about $150.

Might depend on how comfortable you are as a lefty closing other linerlocks. I'm not lefty but I try to learn to operate most of my knives ambidextrously, and I still find many linerlocks to be very cumbersome and a bit riskier when closing lefty. Maybe you're much better than I though.

Well I ended up spending my funds on a deal too good to pass up on two brands I haven't tried yet. But my wife is getting me a Spyderco for our upcoming anniversary and it could be a Taichung Spydie(she asked what I wantedbi told her a Spyderco that's plain edge and that I wanted her to pick out the knife, seems more fun than just knowing)

Just curious, what 2 knives did you go with? I've got a few other brands that I like as well, and some on the radar I haven't ever tried.

THIS^^^ I have tried so many and always end up going back to the Gayle Bradley.

Struggled with it for a week, but finally got mine rebeveled and mirror-polished up. Sucker is SHARP. And if M4 is as good as they say (pain in the neck to sharpen), it'll stay this way for a while.

I got a Zero Tolerance 0561 and Benchmade 527 off the Exchange. Just too good of a deal to pass up

Ah ok nice. I have an 0566 Blackwash that I like, kind of like the little brother to your 0561 I think.
I see you have Cryo in your name, so they are just like the high end nicer version of that knife (which I also have one!)

Well, all in good time, hopefully you can try out a Taichung Spydie! :)

I think the only difference is size and the 0561 is a bearing system not speedsafe. She has heard me say Sage 3 a few times but whatever she gets I'm sure I will like. Plus I bought another knife from a site that does engraving and I know she's into that. So even if its not the exact knife i want it will still be special because its from her

Funny thing is I gifted both my Cryo and Cryo2 to my younger brother a few weeks ago. So I have no Cryos anymore. Should change it to NoCryoGuy5272
