I'm a pretty avid forum user in general, and this is the best knife forum I've come across, hands down.

Hopefully with a better attitude...I can understand gettign upset for one reason or another but once you burn your bridges you have no place left to go..;)

I LOVE bladeforums and although I am a member of about a ahlf dozen other knife forums I am only active on one other forum, which you cna probably guess...I woudl say the second most popular right behind blade...

the forum doesnt need guys like him so i hope he doesnt come back. i see that there are a few registered members that posted in this thread. how about showing your support and buy a basic membership at least. its only $10.:D:thumbup:
 
I'm pretty new here as well, but I immediately saw the value of this place and bought a gold membership.

Of course, being new, I've made a few stupid posts. Not offensive posts mind you, but posts where I just
didn't have my facts straight, and have had people nicely say I was full of it, then take the time and effort
to point out where my mistakes were made, for which I'm grateful.

It's far better, in my opinion, to have a mistake corrected here than to have to pay for it out in the bush somewhere.

This is a good place, I've learned a lot here and think that my investment has paid for itself many times over already.

I paid and received a receipt for gold membership but the forums have seemed to decline to acknowledge the fact...lol.
 
i've recently just muffed up as well, though it was obvious to the moderators, in all honesty i wasn't aware of my actions being wrong, cause i didn't read the rules when i joined , just a couple months ago. i guess i shouldn't have been in such a hurry. in any event i will be purchasing a makers membership, and i apologize to all that ive offended.

I am sure most members here have made a slip or ooopps or two! I Have, when you put a quarter in the machine you just have to deal with the results!
 
Does anyone ever really miss yet another idiot who can't spell and doesn't have the vaguest notion of what a paragraph is?

The fewer illiterates here the better. There are foreigners here from non-English speaking countries who put a significant fraction of the "native speakers" to shame regarding their inability to grasp the fundamentals of their own language.

Well, they'd put them to shame if those same "pore wrightin" morons had any sense of shame to begin with.

Over the past few weeks I have been cleaning out my safes and have found some interesting peices that rarely are seen from Al Mar which is the bulk of my collection, Thought that some of you knifenuts would enjoy seeing them even though my pictures leave some room for improvement!

This site is great, I have met people here that I would have never met otherwise. Being able to have conversations at a global level is an amazing thing concidering that back in 1996 we were still on party lines in our area. Now we have private lines and high speed internet.

While there have been times when it has become tense on the forums, in the long run I have only made friends here. Spend some time, and after a year I felt it was well worth supporting this forum. Membership is cheap when compared to what I get back in return here.
 
why is the jerkit icon considered so offensive?

i've seen folks flip out about it and just wonder why.......?
 
it isn't the icon itself in this circumstance, it is the context in which it was used by this poster that offended so many I do believe.

If you want go strictly by the rules, I believe the usage is forbidden (if not forbidden, then strongly discouraged) outside of certain subforums. The same way as sexually colored language is inappropriate in the general forum.

I think it is common sense to reserve this icon for drastic cases.
 
Use of the jerkit smilie will only get you in trouble if you use it in a forum were it is banned, or if you use it as a way to insult another member. It was not the use of that smilie that got tc45cal banned. It was the attitude he displayed, and the complete disrespect he showed towards Bladeforums and its rules. If use of that smilie in an of its self was enough to get you banned, I don't think it would be there for people to use in the first place.
