Well it pains me to say it, but I'll be taking a RAT/Spyderco/gear hiatus staring Dec. 24th. Any cash I get is going into a new fund. I call it... the EBR (Evil Black Rifle) Fund. I'm Buying an Upper and Lower plus a quad rail and vertical grip to start. The estimated cost off initial shopping is going to be about $880. (Found some really good deals). Eventually an Eotec and Weapon light (most likely surefire) will be put on, but thats far down the road. I'll play with Iron sights for a few years :) Way I see it, the health care stuff is about to pass, then MR. obama will move to this whole "copenhagen" BS, then Cap and Trade, and by the time he gets to the AR ban, maybe I'll have mine.

Anyways, looks like my Last RAT for a while will be the RC6 that I believe is under the tree for me right now. Wish me luck in being persistent in my savings.... (Its a virtue I dont really have :))

I give you until Jan of 2010 to make an exception to the "no knives rule". That said, I wish you luck.

ah looks like black rifle affliction I had that not long ago. Careful man it's hard to get rid of once you catch it.

Best of luck. I try to focus on putting the tools I have to use instead of buying more but its next to impossible for me.

Here is mine all done up. I had to take a long break to get it all together. Got s good deal on the ACOG and Surefire forend though. It is setup like my old duty rifle, so I have plenty of training hours with this exact setup.

I wish you a speedy return Jake. I took the same break two years ago for the same reason.

Perfectly understandable!

Please, please, please do lots of research before buying! Make sure you get the best quality AR you can afford. Ask around at a forum that has a lot of people who actually use and shoot their ARs like M4Carbine.net or Lightfighter (kind of like the RAT forum for knives).

Best of luck with that, doing something like it myself, only mine is the "I wanna go _____" fund.

Don’t do it man! It’s not crossing those waters that’s tough….it’s getting’ back! I have done the exact opposite. I saw my first RAT blade on someone’s gear on a certain black rifle forum and starting researching them, which lead me here. Coming here has reminded me that it’s not about the high tech gizmos you have, it’s knowing how to make the most of what you DO have.

There for a while, the BRD was bad. Optics, lights, rails, mags, chest rigs, and a partridge in a pear tree.

In all seriousness, everyone should have at least on AR in my opinion. I keep my ARs pretty simple and lightweight. An EOTech, a light, and a good sling are about all I feel I need on mine. Shotgunner has been talking about an AR build lately, maybe you two can go to the 12 step program together. Have fun, they’re great guns!

Unfortunately, now I have RAT and outdoor gear fever again. I mentioned the other day that my wife actually asked me to go back to my gun hobby! Women!

They are addicting. My brother has the M&P15T mall ninja special with 34 feet of picatinny and a eotech.

Since I am not breaching any doors with bad guys behind them, I stuck with a standard 20 inch and a varminter 24 inch. So far. I am going to pick up another lower or two to build on, as soon as I get the chance.

I'm here with you Jake!

Been doing a bunch of research on different brands.

I'm doing a KISS build, 16" upper, plain Jane lower and a decent Aimpoint and that's about all I can't afford.

So far I've bought a few boxes of ammo and tried unsuccessfully to sell some stuff to get some funds together. It's a start.

I go back and forth on my gun and knife addiction,no problem, been doing it for MANY years.

I've started seeing federal 55 gr fmj in 100 round packs for $39.99 at Wally around here recently -- not a bad price for stocking up if you grab a box when you're grocery shopping...
