Taking a break from Knives

I'm here with you Jake!

Been doing a bunch of research on different brands.

I'm doing a KISS build, 16" upper, plain Jane lower and a decent Aimpoint and that's about all I can't afford.

So far I've bought a few boxes of ammo and tried unsuccessfully to sell some stuff to get some funds together. It's a start.

You’ve got payment for 2 sheaths that MUST be used for the AR build. I forgot at add that to my paypal notes. Not negotiable!

I just went through the black gun phase. I got a Savage 10flcpk bolt in 300 win mag. Don't need to get close and don't need a lot of ammo. Also it's a bit heavy for hunting but will be by Elk gun. Comes in 223 I might have to get one of those too. I love in.

I’ve got a 10FP in .223 that has put up many 1/2 MOA groups and a couple in the 1/4 MOA range with factory ammo. Amazing guns for the money.

Go ahead and send your Form 1 in to BATFE to 'Make and Register a Firearm' for a short barrel rifle build (SBR). Do it now so six months down the road when you catch the SBR bug you'll already have approval.

Good thing I bought my AR before I caught the knife bug...no need to give up my addiction to fund my rifle.

For the money, one just can't beat BCM. The quality and service is top notch. If I were to start another buid, I would start with this upper receiver group. I already have two BCM uppers and I couldn't be happier.

now now fellas, you're talking as If I'm leaving Bladeforums! I'll still be here just as much as usual, just wont be buying any knives. (it'll kill me, but I really want an AR..) I've done a lot of research and still am. my plan right now is to go with a Daniel Defense complete upper, LMT complete lower (found great deals on both), then a Daniel Defense quad rail (its actually a replica but made of the same material and attaches the same but it's imported and costs a LOT less. I'm not about to pay a couple hundred for a rail.), and then a Tapco or Tango Down verticle grip.

The Eotech and Light will come a while down the road.

I haven't purchaced a thing yet. Tough to justify when it's christmas time and you have 3 little girls, three little dogs and a little, tiny wife.

I'm still keeping my eye out for a Mini-14 too, if I find one at a good price I'll have a good, working rifle while I take my time and build the AR. Or I might fall in love with the Mini and forget about the AR alltogether. Time will tell.

It is going to be tough to pass on gear and knives that I'll use on a daily basis and dump the money into a gun I'll only be able to afford to shoot once a month or so but I think It'll be worth it in the long run.

you want to start flinging fire? I'm not short. I'm FUN SIZED!

Good luck brother! I know where you are coming from - just sold a few of my knives to purchase a Marlin 1894 .357 in stainless - been hunting for one since the summer and finally found a new one for an awesome price this morning. My pistol permit should go through in a few months then I will get a stainless GP-100 to match :D

Trailwolf.. Sounds like you have an awesome combo planned!

Thanks Jake - I'm really excited!

Your AR will be pretty sick itself! I wanted to build one but NY state makes it such a pain in the ass to build a compliant rifle that looks good.

I've been getting my tactical fix by modding up my stainless 10/22 carbine - a new tapco stock came today and I have a quad rail and foregrip in the mail. Nothing compared to an AR, but at $0.03 a round its just too much fun ;)

Now, to make up for your lack of buying knives, you are going to have to post pics of your build along the way! :D

Besta get our 'toys' while we can! The way I see it, more of our hard earned FRN's will be taken away with all these different programs, which really are taxes in disguise.
