Taking apart my knife myself: yes or no?

I use a work mat for taking guns apart.
It a ridge to prevent roll off and small square areas to put screws and small parts.
It works for me.

I use a stainless steel cookie sheet. That way I can clean and oil the parts in it and not worry about the mess.
 
Whenever I take something apart for the first time I take photos of at each step so I can see where and how everything goes.

It has also been my experience that it's good to take photos from different angles.
 
You know, the more I think about cookie sheets, the better I like it. Now I'll have to steal one of my wife's finest...
