Hello everyone,

Sharpseker here. Time to come clean. For my edc knives
I carry them in small zip-lock bags. The result, even after
one year? No scratces or wear! Seriously, I have knives
from two years ago that look like I bought them this
afternoon. Is this going too far? Too obsessive? Probobly,
but it keeps them mint! A small scratch in the blade can
depress me for a week! Somehow I knew you guys were the
only people in the world that would understand.
All the best. S.

Sharpseeker,

When you feel the urge to sell those Zip-lock bags; I'll buy as many as you'll sell, if you throw in knife with the deal.

Knife condoms? I dunno,....seems to me that the bag would be shredded after the first couple wave openings. :p

When I buy a knife I instantly determine if it's a user or a collector. I then proceed to use the users, while the collector pieces stay minty fresh in the vault (I have far more users than collectors).

To me, a good knife is a tool, and tools are meant to be used. Using a knife constantly is really the only way to know if you have a good knife or not. I don't trust a new firearm for defensive purposes until I've put at least 500 rounds through it, and I don't trust a knife for defensive purposes until I've made alot of cuts with it.

I'm afraid there's not a single knife I own that I could sell as NIB, like NIB, or even, "Excellent" condition.
I buy them because they look like good users, and then I use them.

I've always admired the restraint some people have though. To be able to buy a nice knife and leave it NIB.
I just don't have that kind of willpower! :)

Eric, nice to know I'm not the only one. I feel far happier about the wear to my CQC6's now !

I would have been on sharpseeker's side about a month ago. But I've made peace with the scratching on my cherished toys. I managed to scratch my LCC up a bit and still live with it. My CQC7 is the only knife i have that doesn't have any blade scratching. But it does have some wear on the handle(especially the coating on the screws), and it's caused serious damage to the seams on a couple of my blue jeans(gotta love the wave). My Kershaw Whirlwind looks like it was run through a grinder after it was polished. A month ago slight scratching of the finish on any of them would have caused loss of sleep, but I've grown stronger. ;)
