I was wondering if any of you guys knew of videos/threads explaining how to take apart old slippies completely, or if you had tips, reccomended tools, etc. to help me out. I am hoping to take apart two old Hammer Brand texas toothpicks this weekend, the first as a practice run with the crappy one, and then a final run with the other, whose blade is not broken.

ANY help is appreciated,
Connor

I didn't take too many pictures, but for me, the issue was finding the pivot pin. I drilled the heads of the rivets/pins and then punched them through. I had a drill press which made things easier.

If I were doing it again.

Take a file and flatten the head of the rivets and then center punch them before drilling. (Do not drill out the rivet, just the head-- eg use a bit about the size of the head, not the shaft.)

Have a utility knife blade that you can put in a vise and then use as a wedge to separate the pieces.

Work slow and deliberate. If it's not going back together, stop, regroup and clean everything out.

I don't know how to work with the springs, I got lucky and was only removing a blade, not totally disassembling it.

Here's the link.
