Taking the ASVAB tomorrow.

Yeah, as a MOS I am choosing infantry but I still have another year.
Hope to go to jump school and ranger school after I have a few years under my belt, but we will see.

Excellent! Instead of waiting a few years, try to get RIP (Ranger Indoctrination Program) in your enlistment contract. That will also cover jump school.

Thanks bro I will go for that, I want to be some kind of infantry and being more then a pair of legs would be real good.

Still have 15 months to work everything out though.

Yeah, go garraunteed Ranger, you'll go to Infantry, Jump, then off to RIP. You can always back out of RIP during Jump School, many do. I'd say more but if you do go that route I want you to really enjoy the experience. :D

If you want to see pretty girls go either Medical or Public Affairs..... very very nice scenery :)

There is a difference between being in a Ranger unit and going to Ranger School. If you really decide you want to be in a Ranger Unit you should check out

They have a mentorship program there that is pretty squared away. Right now only about 20% of the DEPs that register there get all the way to battalion. I would bet that number is pretty consistent with all the new enlistees that say they are going to be a Ranger. If you get a Ranger contract it will include jump school. Once if you did your time at Bat you were guaranteed a chance to go to Ranger School. Now with the current operational tempo, going to a school isn’t such a big deal when you are constantly deployed to a combat zone.

Also another thing to think about. When I was in, being airborne qualified was just another block to check in order to reach my end goal. It’s a means to get from point A to point B. Once you hit the ground you are just another leg.
