Job's been rough lately, and I really needed a time out. So I packed my bag and went out for an overnighter, I decided to take some photos aswell. I like documenting my trips, it makes it easier to remember locations, weather and what gear I used. This time I thought I might share it with the becker forum, as the BK9 and the BK13 were my two only companions for the trip.

I just bought a brand new Vulture II from Maxpedition. I'm not a minimalist camper, and I like to stuff my bags full. I justify it with "this is the only workout I get", but I really just like to haul my stuff around. The Vulture was new, but it was too small. I wished I'd brought the regular 100 liter frame backpack instead. But I managed.

Here's some photos from my hike. I walked about 20 kilometers in mountain terrain.

My destination, a small lake about 800 meters above sea level.

After I found my camp site, I went out to collect fire wood. As you can see, the trees in my region are few and far between, so it was a long walk to collect enough for a night.

I hauled the wood back to my camp site, and started to process it. Every time I unsheat the BK9 and start chopping, I silently thank Ethan Becker for creating such an awesome tool.

Camp, fire and then: FOOD! I love some beef, potato and carrot stew. Lots of salt and pepper. It's the feast for champions.

And of course, a dramatic picture of the BK9

The grey morning after, was full of rain and fog. But I had got some peace of mind alone in the mountains.

Looks like a great little trip:)

There are so many great areas for hiking up there, I envy you that!

Awesome thread!

We need more of these.

It looks incredibly peaceful where you are, great pics! My wood processing combination is also the Bahco Laplander and BK9 and think its a great set up.

Thanks for all the kind comments. You've all given me motivation to document more of my trips!

I agree 100%. The BK9 and Laplander saw makes a dangerous duo, that fits the nature in my area perfectly. I have no need for a hatchet or a large saw. But if I lived down south I might have an other system, I don't know. What I do know, is that the BK9 is a chopping machine, and that the Laplander eats through wood like no other hand saw I've tried.

Sweet looking scenery you got up there. Looks like you could snatch some nice trout in that pond too ;)

I'm more of an axe man than a saw man myself, and my wood processing tools of choice is a 2lbs axe, my rtakII (will be replaced with a 9 as soon as possible) and a BK14.
I think i might have to get me a folding saw anyways though. Just because.

Like that tent. Looks like a beautiful place to explore and veer off the trail to find hidden areas.

Hey Saint Loke.......

It is I, Sir who must thank YOU....... Thanks for the kind words ....... NICE photos of some beautiful country..... Thank you too for sharing your "getaway"..........

It really does make me happy to see one of the 'kids' off on an adventure in a land far from OLean or Tennessee helping a seasoned outdoorsman have a good time.......made my day it did...

All Best....

Ethan
