So I have seen some threads about painting the KMG.

I was curious if anyone has taken it apart, painted it, and then had problems with the tracking?

How did you guys paint it?

Cool, but even doing that I would want to take it apart. So is there problems taking the KMG apart, coating it with paint (rustoleum) or rust browning, and then putting it back together? I worry about tracking issues?

Personally I wouldnt paint any of the contact areas, may throw off the setup just a tad. Thats just me though. Every time I paint something it ends up being the one thing I change and have to strip or grind the paint off of.

Brian,

I took mine apart and painted it and have no problems with tracking after reassembly. As a matter of fact before I painted it I had no tracking problems with the belt not centered up perfecly on the tracking and drive wheels. However, the tracking is going to change as a belt wears out and that is something that will happen with any grinder.

Nice. So the drive wheel just goes on back in the correct place? I ask because I don't have it yet, just pulled the trigger and ordered it yesterday. Just heard about it rusting, so I am planning ahead.
