Tales of a FFG BK16.

Hmm, this or a mirror polish when I get my 11..... So hard to choose!

Interesting method. I tried to recreate the vinegar dunk all over matte look I had on my 9 with my 7 the other day and it still ended up splotchy. Sanded it all back off. Might have to give this a try. Would look good on the BK14 with black handles.

Derek,

I really like how you used the enchant to create a Black oxide finish.. I prefer it on a hard use knife like the Beckers.

That turned out nice Derek. I think I'll make some liners for mine, but if I do, the retainer may not fit around it, to snap shut. Really though, the handles just aren't long enough for me, so the liners probably won't make much of a difference.

I added liners and the snaps still work! Much better for my big hands. Pics in a minute.

That's a nice FFG. Looks great, and it makes me want to get one even more than I already do. I love the Saber 16, but the FFG keeps calling to me.

I wouldn't mind trying some of those liners out. Where did you get them from?

I made them from a 1mm thick piece of plastic. Was actually a cover to a notebook I picked up at the store.

Derek, that knife is hot. The even patina gives it a very subtle look, I dig it.
Is that a sterile version?

Nope, normal production run FFG BK16.

Very cool D, that damn blade needs a Convex edge...

It's got one. Just looks flat cause of the lighting I guess.

The laser etching on the production models doesn't look as deep as on the FPRs, but with quality sand paper, it won't take all that much work to take the etching out.
