I was in line at the register. I came in to get a cup of coffee before my evening class. I was a bit distracted because the first customer was buying lottery tickets and I didn't want to be late over a cup of coffee. I was wearing the only pair of jeans that were slightly loose at the pockets (tossed those in the trash the next day). I remember someone being behind me in line, but when I made it to the register, there was no one behind me. After I paid and returned to my truck, I did the quick 'wallet, keys, flashlight, sebenza' pat check (my routing that has prevented any loss of those items in the last 5 years). I realized my sebenza was missing. Went back in to look for it. I had just used it prior to getting gas so I figured it couldn't have gone too far. I called a classmate to let them know I would be late. I eventually asked the attendant to view the footage to see if I had it in my pocket at the register. After seeing what had happened, I filed a police report but since sebenzas are not serial numbered, the outlook of it being found/returned were slim to none. That was just one of those days! So watch your pockets when you are in public. I just wonder if the guy knew what it was or if it was just an opportunity thing???
