talk about customs

I agree that this is one Awesome CQC6/viper. Some time ago there was discussion I believe about the other knife that is mentioned that had the grind on the "proper" side rather than on the "photogenic" side. Does anyone remember which knife had this grind and if a forum member owns it are they willing to post a photo of it? I know I'd love to take a look at it! Thanks.

I owned that knife from June 97 until this past September. It is a CQC6 with a right side grind. I showed it to Ernie at the bladeshow in 97 and at that time he confirmed that it was a one of a kind and also that it was the same variation he only made for the services (it had the serrations on the bolsters.) It was made around 95 and has all the best features Ernie ever put on that model. It has matching cutouts on the left and right bolsters, serrations on the top and bottom of the bolsters, sand blasted perimeter of the blade with satin finish on the flats and bevels, and a single bevel edge with the half moon logo on the blade. It was perfect!

And regrettably I sold it! Well, at least it was to a forum member...
Take Care,
Al

I just got a digital camera and want to put up pictures of my Emerson collection. Does anyone know how to put images into a post? Or am I just better off posting them into photopoint and inserting the url into the post. Thanks.

The knife Biginboca had was orginally made for a customer in India.

Why is it that the foreign customers (India and Japan) know which side the knife should be ground on and US collector/users don't?

I asked Emerson one time why he ground them on the left side, his answer "the knives photograph better if they are ground on that side". Now who can argue with that!

And you thought there was a Military or Martial Arts reason for that!

Always good to here from you. Thanks for the scoop on the gut-hooked 8. That sounds like a real keeper. Jeesh, I feel kinda sorry for the guy who let it go. I'd sleep in my car before I sold that one!

I own the CQC-6 that you mentioned earlier which biginboca described in great detail. Its one of my favorite Emersons. Sorry that I can't post a pic but I don't have a digital camera or a scanner.
