I have to admit that the first time I held a Sebenza I was not blown away. I had really built it up in my mind, thinking that the knife would obviously be light years ahead of everything else. At first, it just didn't seem that different than other knives. But the more I held it, opened it and closed it, carried it, and used it, it really started to click for me as to why this was such a legendary knife. I started noticing it's simple perfection. It was just soooo solid! Even after a lot of use, the pivot never seemed to loosen or need adjustment. The blade stayed perfectly centered. It locked open as solid as a rock and with that satisfying clack! And I started noticing the awesome fit and finish of the knife. I noticed the chamfered edges. I noticed the elegant blade shape. I noticed that the thumb stud cut-out (on the non-locking side) was sized perfectly. I even noticed how well designed the pocket clip was (which is harder to get right than one might think!). And as I began noticing these things, I became a real believer. These Sebenza's are actually a cut above.
So, all that to say that there is more to this knife than may first meet the eye. For me it was a acquired taste. It took me a little while to "get it". But I sure get now! The Sebenza really deserves it's reputation.
I am pretty new to the Umnumzaan, but it has the same high quality CRK feel. It feels super solid in the hand. And I love the quiet lock-up. Of course, the fit and finish are what you'd expect from CRK--great! It really is a perfect "tactical" folder IMO. Therefore, I think it would be a great fit for you.
One thing I'd advise against is spreading your money out amongst a number of knives. It can be hard to pull together enough money to buy a really nice knife, so I would buy something high end. Seize the opportunity to own a really great knife. If you don't like whatever you buy, you can always sell it on the Exchange. So, there really isn't much of a downside to buying high quality and you get the pleasure of seeing for yourself what all the fuss is about.
