OK. I'm a backpacking person.

I car camp maybe 3 times a year and that's at music festivals.

And although I have a decent car camping tent I just got this catalog that has this tent in it for 90 bucks and I am fighting not ordering it.

Love the shape, 10 ft wide, love the fact that it has lower vents at the place where my air matteress would be:D Would be great for camping in the sun at festivals plus the design would likely fight condensation and rain with the lower vents and windows.

Stop me!!!

my wife and i, before kids, were avid backpackers... we finally had to break down and realize that we need a monster car-camping tent... we ended up getting a Kelty green river 4.. the thing is huge... it's like the hilton with a vestibule...:D we still have 3-4 different backpacking tents and are now slowly working our way up to backpacking with our 2 wild a$$ boys...

yeah, i'm may be in the market for a monster car-camping tent too - where's that tent from HD and do you think it'd hold up well in a storm?

hmm, guess we're not helping to stop you if we all want one too :D

For $90 I'd be all over that thing.

I have a GoLite Hex 3 for days when I want to go light but that would be just the ticket for one of my week-long classes I'd think.

Let us know where you got it...I'm VEEEEERY interested...

Buy it. If you hate it, or just don't use it you can always sell it.

If I was looking for a large tent I'd be on it like a monkey in a butt sniffing contest.;)

I am king of the bad-punners, so my friends say. They threaten not to hang out with me if I begin punning in public, in front of strangers....
 
Is it canvas? Does it have a floor?

I've sort of been looking for a large-footprint canvas tent, for car-camping with my family. (Seven of us, once the baby gets born.) I like canvas because it has the potential for much greater longevity, without being degraded as much by the sun as synthetics.

Yeah, HD--we all want to know who's carrying this thing!
 
No problem. Its not square (or rectangular). So you'd loose a lot of space in the thing, which would irritate you to no end.

I only go for square or rectangular tents. Not having 90 degree corners means a LOT of lost space inside a tent.

That's a very cool looking tent. I'm a sucker for those sorts of tents. I used to have a Black Diamond Megamid, and I've also owned a couple of tipis. (That friend of mine that looks like you, hollowdweller, lives in a yurt.) Anyway, as neat as that thing looks, it might be a bit warm if pitched in the sun. I'd want a lighter color for that.
 
For the price that's a good looking tent, let us know how good it is?

The price is certainly right, I wonder how heavy it is?
It would make a good base camp/semi permanent tent you could leave up for a long while, I might get one for a place to live while I am building my cabin this summer.
Whats the info, HD?
 
Well Jim,

You convinced me...I ordered one of these yesterday and it should be here by the weekend or early next week.

I'll get plenty of pictures and a quick write-up for you so you can make up your mind.

It looks to have a bathtub floor but may also go up without it. I couldn't tell from the pictures.

I'll try to compare it to the GoLite Hex 3 for size, weight, construction, and materials.
