Got my first Busse, a mint heavy heart, last week. I'm ready to sell this thing. Don't get me wrong, I liked this knife from the moment I opened the box. I also buy things to use not to look at. I just can't get my mind wrapped around using this knife, given the premium we pay over the retail price on the secondary market. I got a camp tramp the other day and I've used it with no qualms. There's just something about entering the ~$450 territory..........

You only live once, is there something else you would rather spend that money on? Also, Busse knives don't depreciate that much by being used and should still be easy to sell (should you decide to do that).

Maybe this will help, This is a $300 Swamp Rat:

There are $800 worth of users in this pic:

And were pushing over $1K of users in this pic:

All could be considered collectors items but that means squat to me. I like tools I can use. I only have one knife that has not been used yet, A SRKW Rat Mastiff. That will change when I get back to the states. I also have 1 light duty knife, A busse Hell Razor with green blade and tan handles. The fun is in using and abusing the blades. Go chop some firewood and enjoy your new toy.
BTW... very cool new toy, congrats on a great score.

 Nah -- go bust it a few times and you'll feel much better. IMO, the heavy heart will increase in value over time... And part of the beauty of Busses is that the "users" don't lose much value anyway. (We're probably talking only 50 bucks max on that knife...)

So say you beat the snot out of it today... That means you're down (strictly financially speaking) 50 bucks. You keep having fun with it and learning first hand the wonders of infi... Then one day you log on and see a user HH going for more than you bought this one for mint. But by this time you don't want to sell because of the sentimental attachment

I have a user BM-E and Mr Mojo LE, both 500 dollar range. The BM-e is shaving sharp, even after chopping 4-5 wrist sized branches that were blocking my view in the hunting blind last week and severing hog and deer bones. That HH was meant to be used.

seriously though, please send me the full resoluton link to it, I want.

Now on to your dilemma. Tell you what I am gonna do, because I am such a ...well you know. Anyway, I will trade you, straight across, my Battlerat for your HHFSH, that way you are using a mid 200 dollar knife instead of a mint 400 dollar knife.

I know the feeling. I like buying USED Busse's because I don't have to worry about being teh first to use it.

Yeah, we're dorks. We'll get over it.

oh this reminds me of a discussion I had with a friend a while ago over some cold play tickets.

He was trying to get some exclusive small venue cold play tickets, being sold over the internet. The prices are from memory, so they're not exact figures. They were selling for ~$50 and sold out within a minute. They were selling on ebay after, for some crazy price let's say $1000. My opinion was even if you bought the tickets for the $50, you'd still be giving up $1000 if you attended the concert. So you should only attend the concert if you felt it was worth $1000 no matter how much you originally paid for the tickets.

So in a small way it makes me feel better. Even if I got on the Busse wagon earlier, I'd still have to make this decision.

I've used my Nuke Heart Variant at shows to help Thatmguy cut up ammo cans for demo's:D I say USE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm just a workin' class poor boy, so using expensive items does come hard. But, like any tool I have, it's worth the money and I'm going to get my monies worth out of it. They do get better with use too.

It's easier if you stay away from the secondary market.

Get in line for a new FBM. Get a basic blade finish and spring for the mag handles.

That's $387 plus $35 for a grand total of $422 plus shipping.

You can take that out and use it with "no regrets."

These are some of my users. Pushing 2k in users in this pic alone...I think...

My knives are worth more to me, the more they work for me.

Something that valuable should never be used. ..

It should be abused.

You're not going to hear anything different from me here. I have a custom knife that is a bit more expensive than the knife you have, and is a one-of-a-kind as far as I know. It is a user! And BTW, it was NOT a user when I got it!:D

Busse are the only investment in great gear that I have that ever appreciate in value from use, both to me, and to others.

I love my one of 49 SHSH, and use it every chance I get. I have 'made sparks' with it on rocks on more than one occasion, and it laughed at me. I'll be struggling later in my life with the delimma of being buried with it, or passing it down to my grandchildren... :D

My vote is use it, but I don't use all of mine... just the ones that 'feel right' :D

Nice knife, 360joules! :)
