SWMBO says I cannot buy any more fixed blades, and in so much as she can count and I will not part with any of mine, I must go in a new direction. That's quite alright as I would like a bit of nice to carry in my front pocket. I review makers sales daily, OK, twice a day, just to see what's available. So help me out. What is a slippie, folder, interlock, etc? they all look like nice pocket knives, just more expensive.

Succinctly give me the low down on what is being made & what it means. Sorry, I know this is a newby question, but I have never paid much attention to anything except hunters type knives.

Thanks

David

Most pocket knives are folders. Any knife with a joint, where the blade lays in the handle while clothes is a folder.

Slipjoints are knives that are held open or closed through use of a backspring. Think of the SAK. It's a multi-tool, but the mechanism used to keep the blades and tools in place is the same that is used in a slipjoint.

Here is a slipjoint that I just received yesterday.
