How common are the Talwar handled khukuris, and how do you tell if they are tourist or real? The handle on this one has been painted. It is steel, not brass. Thanks guys.

These are all made in India and from the early 19thc.
The "5th GR" is a ceremonial kukri made in India for that regiment (which stayed in India after the 1947 Independence). It is probably from the mid '50s. No fighting regiment ever put their badge on a scabbard.
virtually identical to the first, but without the gold paint and badge. Typical Indian cho design and scabbard leather detailing. The V-shaped cutout beneath the langets is typical of tulwar scabbards, and a good indication that the handle is original, not a later patchwork job.
