I've been looking and looking for a tamang knife in the daily specials, but I've also looked on the HI website and I've not found it anywhere. Other than the DOTD, where have you located a tamang? Thanks in advance!
Send Yangdu an email through her sig here on bladeforums.com. She will tell you if she has one in stock and what the price would be. She is really quick at getting back with you as well.
I think they are the best of the all around knives HI makes myself. What they don't have the heft to chop, you can baton. They are nimble and sharp enough to use as a kitchen or camp knife and they would be a nasty blade to use in a fight or to fend off an animal. So far I have three of them, one with a Satisal handle, one with Neem and the first one I bought has a Dhar wood Handle.
I'm drooling on my keyboard Warty! You're making me jealous! BTW, do you have a preference among the handle materials you own? If so, what and why. Thanks for the great pics!
I do actually, I like the Neem and it s because of the way it looks. It comes really plain but then you sand it and put some Tung oil on it and then you get something really special. The grain and color is really not easy to take a picture of but in person it is something else to behold.
I still need to de-rouge the satisal and see what it is going to look like but it looks quite promising.
I imagine it is going to be the next nicest of the Tamangs I have here, I wish my chink of Dhar had been a bit nicer.
