Tan M4 Manix 2

Here's a stupid question about Manix 2's in general - is the BBL as easy to actuate as the Axis is on a Benchmade?

It would be highly misleading to insinuate that the BBL is as easy to manipulate as the Axis lock. The difference is primarily a function of the type and strength of the springs used in the two respective locking systems. Now, as has been stated, the BBL can be actuated by nearly anyone using only one hand, but doing so pretty much demands that you grasp the opposing sides of the lock tab between your thumb and finger. This severely limits the number of ways the knife can be held when unlocking the blade. The Axis lock, on the other hand, can be easily manipulated using only one digit from one side of the handle.

Of course this also means that the BBL lock will be much more difficult to actuate unintentionally, thereby giving it an edge in security over the Axis.

I'd also like to think that the BBL has more of a "direct" feel to it, a little less slop than the Axis lock. But with that being said, I'm a fan of both types of locks and have both in my rotation.

Mine showed up a couple of days ago. Although I haven't seen them yet. They where delivered to my neighbors house because I am out of town but he says they are very nice and very sharp.

Wow, you must have a great relationship with your neighbour! Did he say how they were at battoning?

Mine made it to the UK yesterday- I'm very pleased with it so far. The tan G10 is, as per the experiences of others, much paler and less brown than I expected. Not a problem in anyway as I'm in it for the M4 steel (love it!)

Yes. He said they held up well for the 15 minutes of battoning. Then not so much. He is also holding 2 ZT 551's, a large Sebenza and the new Spyderco Navaja for me. I've got a sickness and I can't stop buying even though I'm in the Persian Gulf until the end of May and won't get to enjoy them until then.

That's terrible, but it looks like you have a nice collection to come home to.
I received my invoice for the Manix II a couple of days ago.
