ok, I have a question about the choil vs no choil. what is the main purpose of having a choil? I know the bigger choils on the big blades are there for your index finger for choking up, but what about the smaller blades with choils such as the AD,MS and GWs and why do these have choils at all?? I mean you can't put your finger in there, and the only reason I guess the ADs and such have one is for easier sharpening closer to the handle??? So, basically I'm wondering other than these two reasons for a choil, is there any scientific reason (such as strength on the plunge line?) for having one???? I would think the blade would be stronger/stiffer laterally and overall with no choil because you don't remove all that metal. I've always wanted my AD to have a much smaller choil and more blade where the choil is, and have always wondered why such a big choil on such a small blade. I'm sure someone here knows the reason for having them or not?????? Just trying to make up my mind on the Tankbuster with choil or without. Help, anybody know, Boss Hogg, Garth, Amy-O, other knifemakers![]()
I PREFER the Choil:thumbup::thumbup:
but no choil will give you a little more blade..but will you use it???
That is a question that I get asked ALOT...
Gotta go CHOIL:thumbup:
