Ya I generally like to cut stuff with my knives so maybe cold steel would be betterIf you're going to use it to pry open paint cans, scrape gaskets and generally abuse it, and Emerson with its chisel edge will do. If you want to cut stuff, Cold Steel's V profile tanto is better.
I'm surprised at all the Emerson recommendations though
I do kinda wannaYou know you waaaaannnnaaa....

Btw I do not recommend the flipper cqc7 due to a design flaw.
I do kinda wannabut if I get an Emerson it would have to be a ZT Emerson as I think they're better made knives
He was being sarcastic here's a link to how bad that knife is... https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/benchmade-3v.1661653/I love my bugout so I looked at the bailout but I just didn't do it for me. I don't understand why they'd use a hard use outdoor fixed blade steel like 3v and put it on a knife that is more of a lightweight edc.
Plus the grivory doesn't really do it for me anymore.
Well I might have to try one then, seeing as I have only handled a couple briefly.Honestly they are just made different not necessarily better. That CF ZT620 actually came with a lock that you could get to fail just by pushing on the spine. So it’s not like because it is a ZT there will be 0% chance of issues. Luckily bending the lockbar in stopped the problem.
If buying an Emerson Emerson I would recommend you ask the vendor to check for any lockup issues. Most Emersons come with some lockstick but issues like lockslip or lockrock are not acceptable.
Overall I would say that the ZT Emersons probably have a lower % of knives that have some issue but I actually prefer my real Emersons to my ZTs, just make sure you get a good example of one.
The ZT certainly appears to be stronger built (very debatable) but is an absolute tank to carry around in the pocket. Whereas an Emerson cqc7 is light and compact and an absolute joy to carry. (It’s still not a slim gentleman knife of course)
Also there is a difference of pedigree. The ZT seems more like a tough tool knife in the shape of an Emerson whereas Emerson knives seem to be designed to be weapons first which incidentally also make outstanding tough working tools. (More in the vein of Cold Steel)
Ya I'm sad to say Benchmade has been kinda letting me down latelyHe was being sarcastic here's a link to how bad that knife is... https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/benchmade-3v.1661653/
It failed in several tests.
