Tanto by busse or busskin?

Hi I've recently have taken an interest in Busse and Bussekin knives and I would ideally like a tanto version of the waki (it will mainly be for camping and my favourite length for that is 7inch so there abouts) and eventually a full size katana and kodachi (I've spent a sizeable chunk of my life doing kendo so it might be a nice thing to be buried with). Does anyone know either if Busse has already made this or roughly how much it would cost if you have had them made as a custom order?

Thanks for your help :)

Don't take my word for it but I think? I've seen a swamp rat with a tanto blade but don't hold me to that! Did you look at the Tali wacker its close to what you maybe looking for.

I have seen Busse tantos but not too many. The Tanto is just not very popular with the HOGS.
I have learned to make the adjustment. :D
I know the Custom Shop would oblige you, tho.

The Public Defender is a traditional tanto blade shape (ie, not Americanized) but the blade is significantly shorter than 7 inches. Black coated with snakeskin, usually. Neat little knife, but hard to find these days. Jungle Defender is a green-coated, hollow ground version, even more rare.

(Under the category of making grown men cry, I gave $200 once on the exchange for a pristine one, back in the day.)

The only Tanto that big I can think of its the Force One, Much wider blade but a great overall camp knife profile.

A cut down Waki or Ruki would be interesting, though not much mass for a camp knife, but the knife nut in me really wants to see one done up! :)

I believe Roenman or dericdesmond got a tanto waki or ruki at KC in last couple years, but it may have just been nuked, or it was just the tanto RMDs...

ah, they all run together anymore.:D

Heres a couple of the force ones Dwayne mentioned

A very cool comparison of the two different tip profiles of the Force One. :) Its even more dramatic looking on the coated models.

That custom shop model is so nice.

I stand corrected, mine is not at home currently so I could not check the looks of the tip area in person.
It is a sweet blade.

I thought you nailed it. Its a rounded tanto very similar to Japanese.

I wasnt correcting anybody:D

I was just in the pics folder and added since you mentioned:thumbup:

I was looking for a satin but dont have a pic yet. You can see the grind a lot better in the LE

Thanks for the reply :) and thanks for telling me about the tali Wacker! Its very close to what I want and its quite tempting... How often does busse introduce a new line of knives? I've seen somewhere on this forum that with busse its a good idea to buy second hand as enthusiasts tend to buy them and its properly maintained or keep looking at their website for new knives.

And sorry my phone took a while to load and didn't see other people's posts...

Thanks to all the suggestions and especially the photos! :)

Knife hunter that swamp rat looks amazing!

Here are the specifications on the Taliwhacker:

Blade Thickness: 3/16"
Blade Length: 7 1/4"
Overall Length: 12 1/2"
Blade Width: 1 1/2"
Grind: Saber with Chisel Tip
Finish: Hand Applied Satin Finish (LE model)
Handle: Black Resiprene C
Steel: SR101 58-60Rc

If you want to buy a Taliwhacker:
- keep checking this forum for a "ganza" sale (a Taliwhacker might be available)
- watch Busse / Swamp Rat / Scrapyard Knives For Sale - coated and/or LE (satin finish) models are for sale at times
- maybe the Swamp Rat custom shop would make one for you as a special order???? (check with them to see if this is possible and the cost)

To answer your question, Busse has no set schedule for when a new model is introduced.

My Red PD is over in Germany. No regrets.
roeman- I sent you another email.

Here is a pic of the LE from the Ganza

This is just stunning... I'll keep my eyes out for this beauty!
