What can I say? Truely perfection in my eyes. I'd love to see additional pictures - close-ups at different angles and a straight on side view. Thanks for showing. And maybe pester you for some dimensions and info. on the Damascus? Mike

My jaw hit the floor, love the carved handle.
Thanks for posting, Norbert, as Mike mentioned any additional info would be greatly appreciated.

Doug

Holy cow.. I didn't realize that the handle was carved at first glance. A wonderful homage.

Here is a little of information as wanted, sorry for the translation...

The craftsmanship is substantial, but the lack of a habaki or habaki-like object makes this an overall failure in flow(and in the function of the blade sides being gripped by the scabbard instead of a habaki), in my opinion(that is all it is, an opinion).

STeven,

I will agree that a silver habaki for a traditionally mounted tanto would play nicely on this one.

Norbert,

Thanks a lot for the specs and additional images.

Doug

Steven, I am not a big connoisseur of the Japanese weapons, but maintaining that you say it, I agree with you. Something is missing....

I understood well that you gave YOUR opinion. I respect that. I like the respect and the professionalism which reigns here.. ;) .That's why I post here and not in France....

Most hard is to translate and understand.....

Doug, it's a pleasure, Robino, I don't think so, it is a order and which orders !!!

What a work of creativity and craftsmanship! I wonder how the tanto that STeven is making is coming along. I'd love to see it!

I am a martial artist and a sword user, not a maker....doesn't mean that I don't know what I am talking about.

Is there a requirement that someone be a maker of something before they have a degree of knowledge about it?

STeven Garsson

Thanks for posting it. I'd love to have such a knife that one especially.

Also Thanks- I guess I never really thought and never understood what that part did. It's the subtle bits of information that help me to better understand form and function. What you said doesn't dimish that knife in my mind but opens more questions.
