Recommendation? Tanto folders under 180.00?

The Kershaw isn't chisel ground.

I think the CQC-8K is chisel ground, but the rest are not as far as I know.

All of the good suggestions have been made, I think. Cold Steel Recon 1 or Code 4, ZT 0620, Hogue EX01... all very good folders that I have handled (with the exception of the Code 4)

My personal pick would be the Recon 1, just because I really like the handle and size:weight ratio. Also, the price is pretty good for what you get.

Don’t know if you can find one used and they are abit heavy but the ZT620 is an outstanding 3.6 inch bladed knife.

Also not sure how impatient you are but supposedly Spyderco is coming out with an outstanding pm2 tanto.

Not sure how you feel about FRN (glock plastic feeling) handles but the Hogue Ex03 comes in 3.5 and 4 inch tanto versions for much less than 180$ or for 186$ you could get the ex01 which is the same knife in aluminum or g10 handles.

Maybe you could tell us if you prefer a lightweight edc style folder or a heavy tank of a folder.

Also if it was up to me I would be looking for used Emerson Tantos.
I really prefer a heavy weight large folder with big, thicker scales.

The Hogue EX-01 is also very good. I have one but it completely slipped my mind. If you appreciate the Emerson philosophy of 57-59 HRC 154CM for rough use, then the EX-01 is arguably a better knife than any Emerson in just about every way short of the wave feature, and is available for a good deal less. You can pick them up new on eBay all day long for $150 or less.
